Inspired by ancient cultures, raw elements, and everyday moments, each piece carries intention, texture, and authenticity.
VOID is an expressive name, and Vera, founder of the brand, explained to me what it means to her. “For me, VOID is not the emptiness in the sense of lack, but a space of pure potential.
It’s the silence before thought and from where everything is born and created.”
A self-taught journey through materials
She is a self-taught designer and has always worked with different materials. It all started with macramé, then leather, and finally metal in its various techniques, which remains her focus in the work to this day.
Becoming a jewellery designer wasn’t a plan; it all unfolded naturally.
Since her 20s, Vera knew she wanted to have a creative job, aligned with her desire to be her own boss; over time, it grew into something more serious. Over time, when she realised she was making enough money from it, it felt like a quiet confirmation rather than a sudden decision.
It simply evolved into what was meant to be.
Monchique: Place as inspiration
Vera lives and works in beautiful Monchique, which also influences her work. As she explains, VOID Jewelry lies in the fusion of the ancient with the futuristic. “I get inspiration from ancient jewellery from different cultures of the world, in raw natural elements, together with modern craftsmanship.
And of course, the quiet energy of Monchique inspires the forms and details of VOID Jewelry.”
When asked what characterises VOID best, it is the nature she is surrounded by when creating: a rural life or a slow rhythm. Her answers were definite: “A reflection of a slower rhythm for sure, we are slow jewellery, not mass production nor fast fashion.”
Outside of jewellery, Vera finds inspiration in many other things. Art, music, and travel are the main ones. She travelled and lived in many parts of the world for many years, and that’s reflected in the work. Music and art are also always present.
Even if inspiration seems distant, she keeps working on tasks that aren’t so creative, doing research, and inspiration comes.
The Visual Identity of VOID
Another characteristic of VOID is specific natural elements, such as stones, geometric forms, and rough textures, which define the brand’s identity.
From Intuition to Craft
Vera’s creative process starts intuitively. Sometimes with a drawing, other times, she just jumps into the metalwork, sawing, soldering, sanding, polishing, and finally setting stones.
A typical day in the studio includes various tasks and creative flow, like sawing, sanding, polishing, soldering, and setting stones, accompanied by loud music or complete silence.
Balancing intuition with technical precision when designing might not be easy.
“I start each design intuitively, letting shapes and ideas flow freely. Once the concept feels right, I bring technical work, ensuring the piece is wearable and well-crafted.”
For Vera, intuition leads the process, and the technique gives it a structure.
Imperfections are part of the beauty, and VOID is a combination of traditional techniques with a contemporary vision, resulting in pieces that defy the ordinary, spark creativity, and celebrate the beauty of imperfection.
Jewellery as Empowerment
“I hope women feel empowered, confident, strong, and fully themselves wearing VOID Jewelry. We create pieces that transcend fleeting trends, celebrating the individuality and authenticity of those who wear them.”
For Vera, jewellery is more than just an adornment; it’s a reflection of one’s true self. Her brand aims to offer a total lifestyle, a holistic experience that honours authentic, true self-expression.
Producing less, but with more intention, is part of the brand’s philosophy. “Naturally, we want to grow as a brand, but always aligned with authenticity and not following trends.”
Looking Toward the Future
Looking ahead, Vera believes VOID Jewelry has the potential to evolve into a more established brand without losing its essence or unique identity.
“I see VOID expanding steadily in the coming years, with growth in production and a stronger ability to meet demand,” and she adds

“The brand will likely be sold in more shops, reaching new markets and audiences, while also building a more powerful online presence.”
The learning process never ends. Vera is currently taking a wax jewellery technique course, which will be reflected in future designs. Silver and solid gold collections will follow, “And we are always happy with collaborations in different forms.”
A Small Family Business
At the moment, they don’t make custom or made-to-order pieces. Their time is fully dedicated to creating new designs and producing stock for shops, markets, and exhibitions. “We are a small family business—just my partner and me running the whole show.”
If you are interested in where to buy these beautiful slow-fashion pieces, Vera has her own shop together with a friend in Monchique. The shop name is Munt Saquir.
